The Trinity Myth: A Biblical Unmasking

Before I get to the scripture I have to state what the trinity doctrine is because most people don’t know the official definition, including Christians themselves( they debate that topic among themselves all the time)

There is one God, God eternally exist in 3 distinct divine persons, the father is God, the son is God, and the holy spirit is God, the father is not the son, the son is not the father, the father is not the holy spirit, that is what the doctrine teaches, today we’ll be looking at the most popular verses that’s used to push that doctrine.

To keep it simple they believe the holy spirit is neither the son or the father its a complete distinct person, and they are all equal to each other.

First here’s a diagram that explains the trinity.

1 Timothy 3:16

1 Timothy 3:16( kjv)  And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory.

Trinitarians will use to this to say see it says God came in the flesh, but funny thing about this verse is the word God is not in the original text, in the Greek it says “He” not God, Let me show you examples of how different translation word it.

1Timothy 3:16( ESV)  Great indeed, we confess, is the mystery of godliness:
He was manifested in the flesh,
vindicated by the Spirit,
seen by angels,
proclaimed among the nations,
believed on in the world,
taken up in glory.

( NLT) Without question, this is the great mystery of our faith
Christ was revealed in a human body
and vindicated by the Spirit.
He was seen by angels
and announced to the nations.
He was believed in throughout the world
and taken to heaven in glory.

These are just a few you can click this link to see the different translation of that verse.

The bible itself tells us who was manifest in the flesh

2John 1:7  For many deceivers are entered into the world, who confess not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh. This is a deceiver and an antichrist.

Who raised Christ from the dead?

Another argument Trinitarian likes to use is, who raised Christ from the dead? They say it was all 3, the father, the son and the holy spirits showing the connection between the 3 here the verses they use

John 10:17  Therefore doth my Father love me, because I lay down my life, that I might take it again. ( they use this to say the son)

Romans 8:11  But if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwelleth in you.( the holy spirit)

Galatians 1:1  Paul, an apostle, (not of men, neither by man, but by Jesus Christ, and God the Father, who raised him from the dead;)

John 10. Where did Christ get that power from?

John 10:17  Therefore doth my Father love me, because I lay down my life, that I might take it again.
John 10:18  No man taketh it from me, but I lay it down of myself. I have power to lay it down, and I have power to take it again. This commandment have I received of my Father.

Even in that verse when you read it in context it lets you know ultimately it is the father that’s raising Christ from the dead.

Romans 8, the spirit of him

Romans 8:11 But if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwelleth in you.

Notice the verse didn’t say the spirit did it, it says the spirit ” of him” the question is who’s the him ? The father, below is 2 previous chapter in the same book of Romans.

Romans 6:4 Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.

Hebrews 10: 26 Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.

Ephesians 1: 20 Which he wrought in Christ, when he raised him from the dead, and set him at his own right hand in the heavenly places,

It is clear the father alone is the one that raised Christ from the dead not no 3.

The Acts 5 argument

Acts 5:1-4

But a certain man named Ananias, with Sapphira his wife, sold a possession,

And kept back part of the price, his wife also being privy to it, and brought a certain part, and laid it at the apostles’ feet.

But Peter said, Ananias, why hath Satan filled thine heart to lie to the Holy Ghost, and to keep back part of the price of the land?

Whiles it remained, was it not thine own? and after it was sold, was it not in thine own power? why hast thou conceived this thing in thine heart? thou hast not lied unto men, but unto God.

The argument is in verse 3 it says he lied to the holy ghost, but verse 4 said it was God he lied to. This verse is not saying the holy spirit is separate beings from the father, the most high who is holy( Lev 11:45) and a spirit( john 4:24) is the holy spirit, Peter was operating under the holy spirit so when they lied to him, they automatically lied to God.

Matthew 28:19

Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:”

Here we see the reference of the father, son and the holy ghost showing the validity of the trinity doctrine, now when you do the research on this verse its not as simple as it seems.

2 timothy 2:15 Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.

Sometimes it takes extra studies to understand a scripture its not just plain in your eyes.

If Christ told his disciples to baptize in the name of the father , son and holy ghost then the disciples disobeyed him, why? Because they never did that! Every time they baptized someone here’s what they did.

Acts 2:38 Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.

Acts 8:16 (For as yet he was fallen upon none of them: only they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus.)

Acts 19:5 When they heard this, they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus.

Why is it that the baptism is always done in Jesus name alone? I thought Matthew 28 says the father, the son and the holy spirit.

The mystery revealed

We do not have the original manuscript of Matthew 28 today, but we do have ancient writings of people who saw these manuscripts, one of them is a man called Eusebius, he existed during the period of original manuscripts , he wrote many books and quoted Matthew 28:19 many times, this is how he always quoted.

“Go ye and make disciples of all the nations IN MY NAME, teaching them to observe all things, whatsoever I commanded you”

Source: Demonstratio Evangelica, by Eusebius, A.D. 300-336, col. 240, p. 136:English The Proof Of The Gospel, Translated by W. J. Ferrar, 1981 Edition, p. 152, 159, 179

This is exactly what we see in the book of acts, Eusebius lived during the time of the original version of Matthew 28:19 this how he always quote the verse, you can look into that yourself its plain.

1 John 5:7 KJV

For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one

This is also another popular verse that plainly supports the trinity, but before I address the verse I want you to look at how other versions has this verse.

For there are three that testify( ESV)

And it is the Spirit that beareth witness, because the Spirit is the truth.( ASV)

So we have these three witnesses( NLT)

So we have these three witnesses( NIV)

For there are three that testify( NASB)

Notice the other versions sounds nothing like KJV, why is that?

Biblical scholars have openly admit the word Father, son and holy spirit was added in late manuscripts, so who’s the 3 verse 7 is talking about, read the very next verse.

1 John 5:8 the Spirit and the water and the blood; and these three agree.

If you want more examples of how other versions corrected the addition click this link, we will finish the trinity series in the post on what the holy spirit is shalom!
